Vail Resorts has purchased another Lake Tahoe area resort, Northstar-at-Tahoe. If the Epic Pass is valid this season at Northstar, as stated in their news release, it will be great news for skiers and snowboarders as they can now enjoy both the North Shore and the South Shore on the same ticket.
Not to mention, a little ski trip from California to Colorado, or vice versa just became a little cheaper for Epic Pass holders as their lift tickets will already be “paid” for. So now, under one season pass, you can ski: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly, Northstar-at-Tahoe and a certain little ski area up on the Continental Divide that just opened today, Arapahoe Basin. I imagine this acquisition will increase the competition in lift ticket pricing for the other Lake Tahoe resorts.
As such, this will be great for skiers, but may not be so great for some of resorts that do not have lodging and count on lift tickets as their primary revenue source. So for me, maybe an Epic Pass should be seriously considered.
