Zermatt. The Matterhorn. They are synonymous, but both are iconic in their own wright. Do you like the town Vail? Well it is patterned after the narrow, winding, car-less village of Zermatt.
Just as the Tetons of Jackson Hole are worthy of a relaxed and extended gaze, so is the amazing and majestic Matterhorn perched along the Swiss – Italian border.
Hike around Zermatt to find the magnificent view subtly changing, but worthy of another picture.
Ski over the ridge from Zermatt into Italy for the day and find a decidedly different and distinct view of the Matterhorn and a laid back Italian culture.
Zermatt is worthy of a trip any time of year and my preference, definitely being the winter for some ski turns in the shadow of the Matterhorn.
