I was able to get a quickie update from Bill Wanrooy of Epic Planks. Although many shops and ski manufacturers have slowed down a little this season with the under-whelming snowfall throughout many parts of the North America, Epic Planks is not one of them.
One of the things that has intrigued me with Epic is their micro brew affiliations. I find it interesting that some of the best micro breweries are found in traditional ski towns. So I asked Bill about his brewery relationships.  He said they are really excited about their partnership with Founders Brewing.
“Founders is one of our favorite spots to hold Epic Planks meetings and was a natural fit for us”, Bill said. “The brew ski thing has been done in the past, but with mass-produced beer and mass-produced skis originating in China. We are pumped about this partnership because it is a partnership between handcrafted beer and handcrafted skis that ooze quality.”
Sounds like a great combination to me and I would one day love to be able to sample both a Epic Plank and a Word Beer Cup Winner, Founders Centenial IPA.
The lack of snow didn’t hold Epic Planks film planning back. As luck would have it, they were able score some really good freshies for their upcoming films a few weeks ago.  Epic spent time filming with Toy Soldier Productions at Brundage Mountain Cat Skiing in McCall, Idaho. Then they made their way to Whitefish, Montana where they filmed with Mitten Media at Great Northern Powder Guides Cat Skiing. Footage from both of these trips will be in next Fall’s film releases from both companies.
Really banging graphics are soooo sweet, so I had to ask Bill where Epic’s graphics come from.  All of Epic Plank’s graphics are developed in house by co-owner James Barber. As James wasn’t available, I will definitley have to set up a meeting with him at a later date when things slow down a little for them.
Bill is happy to announce that Epic Planks is launching a new webisode series in conjunction with The Ski Channel. Episodes will be released online and will also be available as video on demand on cable/satellite tv in 40+ million homes in North America.
Check out the Epic Planks teaser for the series that will be launching in a few weeks.
