All that I was looking for were some skis to demo and then write reviews on how they actually performed out on the mountain. So I headed into Christy Sports near the tram building at Snowbird ski resort in Utah. The manager, Greg Black set me up with some Head Rev 105’s to try out on the leftover’s from last weeks’ storm.
From the moment I walked into the ski shop, I had a feeling it was a well run shop. It was full of gear, but organized and clean. They have more than an ample variety of skis, ski boots and softgoods of ski jackets, pants, goggles and helmets. Not only does Christy Sports have all of these ski essentials in the leading brands for adults, but also for the kids as well.
After skiing the Head’s all day after a day’s worth of enjoying the best that Snowbird had to offer, I returned to the shop. One of our crew was having some liner issues in his boots. Greg sent us over to the boot fitting section to talk to Steve Bagley, the head of the boot department.
After some consultation, then removing the liners to take a peek at them, Steve worked a little magic, re-heated the liners and had my buddy try them back on. So far, so good in the shop as my friend nodded in approval when asked how they felt. Only thing left was to try them out the following day on the mountain. George was pain free the rest of the trip and his skiing proved it.
With the changing ski conditions present at Snowbird and with me trying out different ski models and brands, some of my crew, like most skiers, became interested in demo’ing some skis as well. Well, this shop has plenty of ski brands to choose from: Atomic, Rossignol, Blizzard, K2, Head and more. Not only do they carry many of the top lines, but also many models within a manufacturers’ lineup.
Being positioned right at the tram, it sure made the switching of skis a breeze. While the rest of the crew was re-fueling or getting hydrated, I would go into Christy Sports and exchange the skis. Returning to the shop, I was greeted with a friendly “Hey Lane, how were they?” from the shop personnel. Always pleasant and always interested in my enjoyment of the skis and the conditions.
Christy Sports has my endorsement for all of your skiing needs. Whether you need a tune, have ski boot issues, would like to demo skis, or anything else ski related, hit up Christy Sports at the Snowbird tram the next time you are up in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
