I had the opportunity to ski with Peter and Bob, former Ski Patrollers at Heavenly Ski Area on St Patrick’s Day last weekend. Who better to take me to all the goods than former Patrollers?
It was perfect timing as I arrived just when a cold storm was just rolling into the Sierra Nevada and the snow level was dropping fast, leaving dryer powder on the peaks surrounding Lake Tahoe.
We awoke to 24″ of fresh pow and proceeded to take an early ride up the Heavenly tram watching as some of the first tram occupants were annihilating a pristine layer of powder on Gunbarrel.
As you can see in the video, Heavenly has some very good tree skiing and snowboarding shots. I did leave my Contour helmetcam running during some lift rides, so by the time Mott Canyon had opened and was loaded with the most snow on the mountain, I had run out of memory (doh!).
