2011 Ski Season Opens

Here’s yesterday’s openig chairlift ride at Ski Loveland

Its official, the 2010-11 Ski and Snowboard season is underway. On Friday, Sunday River became the first resort in the U.S. to open, followed by Loveland on Sunday and then today Arapahoe Basin joined the officially opened list. The weather outlook for the next few days in Colorado looks promising for those areas to build their bases, with below freezing temperatures and possibly more accumulating snow.

California saw some rain and snow over the weekend and it now has moved on to Utah, so this next week should bring them some precipitation as well. The Northwest and Canada seem to be getting into a nice early season weather pattern as they’ve already had some consistent fronts move through.

Now that the snow is falling and the lifts are spinning, its time to make plans to hit the your nearest Ski and Snowboard expo and the local Ski and Snowboard swaps.  Here’s hoping for a great 2010-11 season!
